A reading quote widget puts a passage you saved back in sight when you open your Home Screen. EasyReadAI uses excerpts from your own notes, with the book title alongside them. You can tap the widget to open the associated note instead of searching for the quote again.
This guide covers the iPhone and iPad widget. Available styles and controls depend on your installed app and system version; it does not describe a native Mac widget.
Set up your first excerpt widget
- Save at least one note with excerpt text in EasyReadAI. You can capture a passage while reading, enter a quotation manually, or save checked text from a paper-book photo.
- Open Settings → Widget settings in the app. Choose the excerpts you want included. Automatic selection and a manual selection of saved excerpts serve different needs.
- Add an EasyReadAI widget from the iPhone or iPad Home Screen widget gallery. Choose a style and a small, medium or large size.
- Tap the displayed excerpt to open its note. The widget opens the note first; returning to an ebook source requires a source location saved with that note.
A paper-book quotation does not acquire a digital page link simply by appearing in a widget. Keep the book title and page reference in your note when you capture it.

With manual selection, new excerpts are not automatically added. Save a new note, then include it in the selection if you want it displayed. In versions with settings for individual styles, check the style you are editing as well as the style installed on the Home Screen.
What changes each day?
The widget prepares a daily rotation from saved excerpts. iOS controls the actual refresh schedule, so a new quote is not guaranteed to appear at an exact time. Where the widget shows a next-excerpt control, you can request another excerpt; interactive controls depend on the system version and need more than one eligible excerpt.
The widget displays existing text. It does not ask an AI model to invent a new daily quotation or create a summary of an unread book. Several visual styles are available, including plain, paper-inspired and retro designs. Choose a style for legibility as well as appearance.
If the widget is empty or looks unchanged
Open EasyReadAI and check that a note contains excerpt text, not only a personal comment. Review the widget selection, particularly a manual shortlist that points to deleted notes. If you changed settings, allow the app to finish updating the widget and give iOS time to refresh it. A short list can repeat: that does not mean the original note has been lost.
A small routine for remembering what you read
When a quote reappears, try explaining why you saved it before opening the note. Add a sentence of your own when the original context is no longer clear. For a wider review session, use the app's note search and book filter, then export selected notes as CSV or a PNG card when you need a copy outside the app.
Books and notes are stored locally on each device; the widget is not a cross-device sync service. Text placed on the Home Screen is visible to someone looking at that screen, so select excerpts accordingly.
