The thread stays beside the passage

The questions and answers are saved with that passage. When you come back, the thread is still next to the sentence you marked.

Set how it answers

Settings → Reply style is free text, saved separately for each app language. Write the way you want answers to go, and later questions follow it. The onboarding example is “Reply style · Socratic.”

These three can go into reply style, or you can ask them beside one highlight.

Different from uploading an EPUB to ChatGPT

Handing a whole file to a chat means copying between the book and the window. Here the question carries the passage you highlighted, and the answer stays beside it.

If you still want a chapter as text for ChatGPT or Claude, use EPUB to text. The conversion runs in the browser and does not upload the file.
