EasyReadAI Privacy Policy
Overview
EasyReadAI (“we”) is an e-book reading and reflective thinking app built on a local-storage-first architecture. This policy explains (1) what is processed on your device, (2) what may be sent to third-party AI providers, and (3) how you control that.
Data stored locally
- Books you import (TXT, EPUB, RTF, etc.) stay on your device only.
- Reading progress, captured passages, notes, and insight cards are stored locally by default.
- API keys you enter are saved on the current device only — not uploaded to our servers.
AI features & data transmission
When you actively tap Ask AI from a captured passage (including translation or note follow-ups), the app may send:
- The source sentence or passage you captured and chose to submit
- Book title, author, chapter name (when available)
- Your question or note text
Recipients may include DeepSeek, Moonshot (Kimi), OpenAI, or other model providers you choose or the app configures.
Before your first AI request, a consent dialog explains this scope. Nothing is sent until you confirm. You can review this policy anytime in Settings.
Platform credit mode
The platform AI gateway handles authentication, forwarding and credit usage. Text questions send the text needed for that request. Optional AI image proofreading also sends compressed page images; this does not upload your whole book library.
Accounts & sign-in
Core reading works without an account. Sign-in (e.g. Apple) is optional for credit sync and purchases — not for accessing your local library.
Website analytics
The EasyReadAI website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand content performance and whether visitors follow App Store links. It may process page views, active engagement time, article scroll milestones, App Store link clicks, referring source, and approximate device, browser, and country information. Google Analytics may use cookies or browser identifiers.
Website analytics never receives your imported books, reading notes, API keys, or AI prompts. Google signals and ad personalization are disabled, and supported Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals are respected.
What we do not do
- We do not sell user data
- We do not use ad or cross-app tracking SDKs
- We do not upload your books or notes to cloud storage (unless you export or share yourself)

Image-to-text and excerpt widgets
Page photos, OCR results and edits are stored locally in the app. Basic Apple Vision OCR runs on device without uploading the photo. If you request AI image proofreading, a compressed page image and recognized text are sent through the platform AI gateway to Moonshot/Kimi; sign-in and available AI credits are required. The widget reads selected excerpts and book titles from a local shared container without calling AI for rotation. Text on your Home Screen may be visible to other people.
