A Prompt for Comparing Two Books

Put two lines next to each other and ask whether they are the same claim. Don't start by asking for an essay.

These two highlights come from different books. Are they saying the same thing? Where do they agree, and where do they clash?

Line up the key words in these two sentences. Where the word is the same, what does each author mean by it? Use only the two sentences I pasted. Don't add other pages from the books.

If I keep only one sentence, which one shows the disagreement more clearly? Give your reason and quote both sentences I pasted.

Why this helps

The disagreement shows up when the two lines sit together. Similar wording does not mean the authors agree. Check both passages yourself.

Use it in EasyReadAI

Star Map and connections help you find related lines across books. The map is computed on your device, and it takes shape after 6 kept connections covering 3 books. Ask about one of those highlights in Ask AI.

To use the comparison prompts above, paste both passages into the question yourself, or copy the prompt into ChatGPT or Claude. You can still customize a one-line way of asking: paste it into Settings → Reply style. One highlight at a time.

To export a chapter for another tool, use EPUB to text.

Where this came from

Rewritten from the "set two books against each other" template on Bumo AI. The second and third prompts were written for this page.

More prompts: the collection.

Common questions

Can EasyReadAI send two highlights to AI at once?

A question uses one highlight. Star Map and connections help you find related lines across books. To compare two, paste both passages into the question yourself, or copy the prompt into another chat.

Does similar wording mean the authors agree?

No. A match can be empty or tenuous. Read both passages and decide yourself.
